The second point that you want to address is replacing that item that you're going to be eliminating. Now this may sound like a net gain (or loss) of no calories, but not if you choose a healthy item in it's place. For instance, if you are consuming a soft drink each day and replace it with water for example, you've just eliminated what is probably a minimum of 200 calories from your daily diet. If you find yourself snacking on things such as donuts or cookies in the afternoon, and you were to replace that item with a piece of fruit - say, a banana or an apple - then your reduction in calories would again be substantial, especially added up over a period of a week or two.
